The Audi R8 was officially introduced to the public in September 2006, at the 2006 Paris Mondial De L'Automobile. The car is based on the Audi Le Mans concept car introduced in 2003. Under the hood lies a 420HP V8 power plant with 0-62mph achievable in 4.6 seconds. The chassis frame is made from composite aluminum and magnesium metal with the motor placed in the center of the vehicle for improved handling and cornering. The drive-train is standard Audi quattro (all-wheel-drive).
